  • Even before COVID-19, the prevalence of mental illness among adults was increasing. In 2017-2018, 19% of adults experienced a mental illness, an increase of 1.5 million people over last year’s dataset.
  • There is still unmet need for mental health treatment among youth and adults. 60% of youth with major depression did not receive any mental health treatment in 2017-2018."

This month, we will focus on ways to nurture and support our mental health as mamas and caregivers.  We care for those we love, but we must also take care of our own health and wellness - especially our mental health! How will you care for your mental health this month???  How will you also help your children and THEIR mental health during such a crazy time in their lives?

Mark your calendars for this Wednesday (May 5) for #worldmaternalmentalhealthday

As mamas, postpartum health is critical to our overall well-being and the well-being of our families.  There is also a stigma about mental health and motherhood and reaching out for help.  We will talk more about this later in the week.

Today, we will focus on 10 effective and important ways to support kiddos and their mental health during stressful times:

 1. Consistent Schedule

2. Talk Openly and Honestly

3. Focus on Positives

4. Pray/Trust and Put Faith in the Lord

5. Simplify

6. Stay Active and Play

7. Get Outside Daily

8. Limit Exposure to News Coverage

9. Tell them you love them every darn day!

10. Don’t be afraid to ask for professional help

Lots of exciting things happening this month!!!
